Jenny Lind Bowl
Jenny Lind Bowl
A classic vintage design created using AO Glass' antique glass press from 1880. This product doubles as a useful small snack and dessert bowl and a tealight candle holder. It was originally created as a custard bowl in the honor of Jenny Lind, the famous Swedish opera singer of the 1850s, who traveled with PT Barnum and became one of the the wealthiest women of her time. It features an intricate 3-dimensional design that emulates cut crystal, and it is made by pouring molten eco-crystal from Glasma Sweden into a metal mold designed in 1940.
AO Glass inherited the mold for this bowl when they purchased their 1880s side-arm glass press, the “101.” According to their research, the Jenny Lind bowl was produced in the 1950s, just around the time that American glass-pressing was starting to wind down. What was once a booming industry of 400+ press factories in the US dwindled to just a handful of remaining shops. AO Glass is honored to bring this piece of history back into production.
